From the revitalization of the Park by naturalist volunteers like Jane Schmidt, author of Savannah Plants… to the statue commemorating the Ukrainian poetess who celebrated the freedoms many newcomers seek in Toronto….
From the children whose urban lives were improved in the 1920s because of public health nurses’ outdoor school refuge from a diseased, crowded city… to the Women’s Institute members who fought to preserve decrepit Colborne Lodge 1920s … we will share stories as we walk and a glass of cider at the end. A salute to the park in the spirit of “International Women’s Day”, led by social history enthusiast Julia Bennett. Meet at 10:30 Sunday by the green benches south of the Grenadier Restaurant.
Update: due to COVID-19 the Parks biweekly free walking tours are postponed. For calendar, see http://highpark.org.
